Build Notes

The CPU, motherboard, case, GPU, HDD and PSU were all from previous hauls. The cooler, SSD, fans, and ARGB controller were bought new from Amazon.

I still like to include a 1TB 3.5” HDD in my builds since they provide an excellent price/storage ratio for any data that aren’t games/applications. Unfortunately, the Corsair 175R I’m using didn’t come with the hard drive cage. While you can sometimes find spare parts for cases (here’s Corsair’s list), in this case, I purchased these Sedna hard disk stands and attached them where the hard drive cage would be using Velcro tape – thus providing shock absorption/protection while still allowing the buyer to upgrade HDDs in the future.

Another thing that was interesting was that even though the ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac has both RGB and ARGB headers, when I connected ARGB fans, they would only change colors when changing the RGB color in the software, which meant they were locked to solid RGB colors instead of the multi-color effects possible with ARGB. After testing with different ARGB and RGB fans that I could confirm working, I gave up and bought the usual ARGB controller instead.

Performance was in line with my expectations for this CPU/GPU combo, with my usual test of Overwatch 2 on competitive settings at 1080p getting a stable 144 FPS. In my testing with Marvel Rivals with FSR off, I was able to get a steady 100+FPS:

Sale Notes

I listed this build for $650 on 4/6. I had cut the price to $625, then again to $600 before a serious buyer messaged me on 4/16 via Facebook Marketplace. The next morning, the buyer messaged again asking if I was firm on $600, which I replied I was. He then said he had $480 on hand and could get up to $500, to which I said the lowest I could go was $550. He agreed and we met up at my usual sale spot.

During the sale, I learned the buyer’s MacBook died on him and he needed a new PC to continue developing his Unity project, a VR pet game for therapy patients. After demoing, he was pleased with the PC and was willing to offer $600 since he only had $100 bills. Luckily for him, I’ve learned through experience and brought $50 in change. He seemed thankful when I honored our agreed upon price of $550.
